Marching Knights at the first home football game
Well we have started school and we are in full force!! It's time to get you caught up on what is going on around this bustling place because we are BUSY!!
We had our first home football game last Friday and, from the motivation and drive of our students some amazing things happened that you need to know. First of all, the students began making posters in support of the football team. An idea from the students, for other students - and I'm proud to report that this has now become TRADITION. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing our students PUMMEL the stereotypes and bland assumptions that should exist. WE ARE ALL KNIGHTS and we are proud of it - whether we are in band, football, or any other activity we are all in this together and we will support each other to the end!
Something new you (hopefully) saw was the well received "BLOCK EN" on the field as we played our school song. The pregame activities will ramp up even more next year, but this little addition certainly adds some college flair to our home football games. Once again, something many bands don't do because they simply don't have the time due to their own competition show. There is HUGE truth to that...but what are we if we don't spend a little bit of extra time to make Friday nights a little more special for everyone? We also now cadence out the football team for some added adrenaline. But my favorite change? It came at the end, so if you didn't stay for the full lashing of Northrop you missed it. It came when the band took the field at the EN in the center of the field and played the school song with the football team...but in reality it came after that - it occured when all of the marching band and the entire football team were giving high fives, fist bumps, and pats on the back for a job well done. An incredible sight to see teenagers support each other so much. East Noble is a pretty special place!
Next up: THE BOOSTERS!
Ladies and Gentlemen....this is the life blood of our band program...the heartbeat if you will. These people go to EXTRA-ORDINARY length to make sure our season is a success. Kids - if you see a band parent you BETTER thank them!! Here are just a few things the band boosters have been up to as of late:
I could go on and on, but the simple fact remains that these parents will do just about anything for them! It's true...I saw Bill Britten trying to put on a uniform last night and march in Bryanna's spot...Don't worry - we got the trombone back before he could hurt anyone!
So thanks parents for all that you do!! Your kids don't say it enough but they DO LOVE YOU!
We're in action tomorrow night at the football game vs. Northridge and we'll be ready!! We've got the same amount of show for you but a little more clean and with uniforms on. Also that annoying tink that is DR BEAT will not be in there!
