After a long week last week our Percussion is headed to state finals for the 14th consecutive year in a row! Obviously this is a special trip as it is our first as a promoted group to open class. A quick history lesson....
There was a time when East Noble Winter Percussion was in Open Class by choice - this was before the advent of AA and to be quite honest a much more simple time in the world of percussion. As the activity has EXPLODED in the last five years Open class has become the bench mark for the "elite" as opposed to the "established". This is now Class A - class A is for groups that have been established for years and are at the basic level - we however have now taken the jump. So if you see trophies lying around that say "open class" it is true - we were at one time in open class, but again, the activity has changed and flourished so much the open class we once competed in is not the same as it is today. The Winter Percussion are currently ranked 6th in the state. should we finish at the spot it will be the highest finish since 2008. Should we move up just one spot it will be the highest finish in 13 years!! Regardless the students have had a phenomenal season and we're looking forward to one last fantastic show. Speaking of phenomenal shows: our WINTER GUARD finished their season last Saturday at Mooresville HS and earned a Silver rating! As the field of IHSCGA becomes more competitive we still stand out as an established group that consistently puts out excellence. Great job girls! Here are the upcoming events for the week: Tuesday - WP rehearsal 6:00 - 9:00 Wednesday - Jazz Band Auditions - after school WP rehearsal 6:00 - 9:00 Thursday - Friday - WP Rehearsal 3:15 - 5:00 WP COMMUNITY PERFORMANCE 6:00 PM MAIN GYM Saturday - WP State FINALS @ Ben Davis ------ Monday March 25th - Disney Pre-trip meeting (mandatory for all travelers). 7:00 pm in large band room If you find spring let me know.... --Mr. Munoz
