My apologies for not posting a blog last week - to be honest I really had to force myself to sit down and write this one as the hours of open time have shifted now to just minutes! Regardless, I know many appreciate this form of communication and I am doing my best to keep this line open.
Our kids were faced with a tough one last week - the schedule was different, we had a rough performance at the football game on friday, a long practice on Saturday, and not the results we were hoping for later in the evening at Wayne HS. As I read scores aloud I could quickly sense the disappointment in our kids' eyes and tried to assure them things are fine but it didn't seem to appease many. However....we are fine!
We always set high expectations for ourselves, and more often than not our kids see immediate results for those efforts. Saturday was probably the first time in the season they experienced a moment of disappointment as we didn't quite reach the goal we had set in our head. And to be quite honest a 67.85 is an awesome score! That's the highest score we've received at the Snider invitational in 5 YEARS - but I think the disappointment sets in when they know they have more inside to give (which is also a great quality).
All I can tell the students is: if there aren't moments where you are challenged you can never prove your ability to persevere - and that's what was really given to us on Saturday; The opportunity to show how much resilience we really have and how much we can persevere through all circumstances.
So to the students that are reading this: Snider was gift of opportunity for us, a chance to prove this week how much passion, dedication, and perseverance we really have inside of us. It is tough to bounce back when you fall short of your goals - although just because you don't reach your goal doesn't mean you haven't achieved great things! Let's make sure we take a step back and look at all we've accomplished this year in the show and remember how high of a level we really are at! <-- (sorry English teachers for that rain wreck of a sentence). And now moving forward let us test how much of those qualities we have inside of ourselves.
We are heading into the most important week of our season and the schedule is a little different so here is your reminder (always on the Google calendar):
Tuesday: Rehearsal - 6:00-9:00
Wednesday: Rehearsal - 6:00 - 9:00
